INTRODUCING THE JR. HOYAS - An refocused program for Middle Schoolers

Dear Hoya Families,

We’re excited to share some important updates about the future of our Hoya lacrosse community.

Over the past season, the Hoya Youth Lacrosse Association (HYLA) Board of Directors has been meeting with the Harrison High School lacrosse coaches and Booster Board. Together, we’ve been focused on strengthening the connection between our youth and high school programs and finding meaningful ways to operate more cohesively as one Hoya family.

While HYLA has always been a community-based organization (and not officially a direct feeder to Harrison High School), our shared mission has remained the same: grow the game, support our players, and help develop the next generation of Hoya lacrosse athletes.

As a result of these conversations, we’re excited to announce a new structure beginning this fall:

The Harrison High School coaches and Booster program will oversee and operate:

- Girls 5th–8th grade

- Boys 6th–8th grade

These teams will now compete as the Jr. Hoyas program.

HYLA will transition to focus on:

- Girls K–4th grade

- Boys K–5th grade

You may notice that 5th grade girls are included in the Jr. Hoyas structure. This is due to how girls’ age divisions are organized, with 5th and 6th graders grouped together. To maintain consistency and alignment, that division will now fall under the Jr. Hoyas umbrella.

This is an exciting step forward for the entire Hoya program. Our middle school players will benefit from earlier exposure to the expectations, coaching, and style of play at the high school level, helping better prepare them for the next stage of their lacrosse journey.

Registration for the HYLA’s fall 2026 season will open on May 4th. The Jr. Hoyas will open registration after the HHS season has concluded in May 2026. HYLA and Jr. Hoyas will actively support one another by cross-promoting programs and opportunities to ensure families have clear and easy access to both pathways.

More details will be shared in the coming weeks, so please keep an eye on your inbox.

Thank you for being part of the Hoya lacrosse community and for your continued support as we take this exciting step forward together.

Go Hoyas! 💙💚🥍
